With the ICC U-19 World Cup 2024 Final all set to be played between five-time Champions India and three-time champions Australia tomorrow in Benoni, three Indians have been shortlisted for the prestigious Player of Tournament award. They are India U-19 captain Uday Saharan, left-arm spinner Saumy Pandey and all-rounder Musheer Khan. 

There are many standout players in the ongoing U-19 World Cup, but the race to win the award has been narrowed down to eight players, as per an official statement by the ICC. 

With his pinpoint accuracy and excellent economy, Saumy has been instrumental in India’s excellent run in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2024. His economy rate of 2.44 is the best among all the bowlers in the competition. He has taken 17 wickets.

With two centuries, Musheer Khan has lit the U-19 World Cup through his batting prowess and excellent technique. He has also chipped in by taking some wickets as his all-round abilities have been very useful and helped India advance in the Semis. He has scored 338 runs till now. 

India’s U-19 Captain Uday Saharan has ticked all the boxes as a captain by taking India to the finals of the U-19 World Cup 2024. In the Semi-Final clash Vs South Africa, Saharan brought his A game with a composed knock of 81 off 124 balls where India beat home side South Africa in Benoni. He is also the current highest run-getter with 389 runs. 

Player of the Tournament nominees: Kwena Maphaka (South Africa), Ubaid Shah (Pakistan), Saumy Pandey (India), Musheer Khan (India), Jewel Andrew (West Indies), Hugh Weibgen (Australia), Uday Saharan (India) and Steve Stolk (South Africa).
