Team India is having a transitional phase in its T20 squad. The team management is keeping a close eye on a number of youngsters for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

While senior player KL Rahul’s spot is almost certain for the first choice wicketkeeper’s position, the toughest competition will be between Ishan Kishan and Jitesh Sharma for the second wicketkeeper’s spot in Team India squad.

Off course Ishan has edge over Jitesh in terms of experience. However, former all-rounder Irfan Pathan feels Jitesh should edge the Mumbai Indians batter as he is an aggressive lower-order batsman.

“I will play Jitesh hands down. I have maintained from earlier that if you have to play Ishan, whether it is ODIs or T20Is, you have to play him at the top, and there is a traffic jam at the top,” said Irfan during a recent interaction.

“It’s very difficult for Ishan to make his place. This is my belief. I don’t know at all what the team management thinks but his ability that I have judged for many years, I feel he needs the hard new ball and then he plays spin well,” he added.
