T20 World Cup 2024: Chris Gayle opens up on India vs Pakistan clash in New York

Former West Indies great Chris Gayle believes that the upcoming T20 World Cup will be a massive success in the United States of America. The country will be hosting a major ICC tournament for the very first time.

As per the former explosive batter, the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) has already given a base to cricket in the United States. Moreover, the upcoming T20 World Cup can help cricket get established to a wider audience in the country. 

Gayle also feels that the clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the marquee event will be phenomenal.

“The ICC (International Cricket Council) has been trying to get cricket on a global scale. The match between India vs Pakistan will be played in New York. I am sure it’s going to be phenomenal. The USA had a T20 tournament last year and it was a huge success. It’s a big market, we just have to hope it will be a success within the United States,” Gayle said during a recent interaction.

Notably, West Indies failed to qualify for the the ODI World Cup in 2023. However, Gayle is confident that Windies cricketers will produce better performances in the upcoming mega tournament and qualify for the final.
