Though Suryakumar Yadav has played international cricket only for two years, he has grown in popularity among fans across the globe.

Suryakumar is already a proven regular in T20s. Moreover, he is gradually inching towards becoming an all-format player for India. After cementing his place in India’s T20 team, he is also in reckoning for the ODI format. Now, the explosive batsman is making a strong statement for India’s Test team as well.

If Suryakumar’s latest hint is any indication, the explosive batsman could be in line for his Test debut ahead of the much-anticipated first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting in Nagpur from February 9.

In his latest Instagram post, Suryakumar shared a picture of a brand-new red SG ball. “Hello Friend,” read the caption of the picture. The caption indicated that he might break into India’s Playing XI for the series opener.

If Suryakumar will be included in the final XI, he is expected to bat at No. 6 with KL Rahul slotted to bat at No. 5 spot. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are likely to open in the match. They will be followed by Cheteshwar Pujara at No. 3. Then Virat Kohli will play at No.4. The availability of Rahul, Surya and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle order and R Ashwin at No. 8 will create a strong batting line-up. India can then opt for either two or three pacers and one additional spinner.

While Surya is tailor-made for the T20 format, Test format is a different kettle of fish all together. However, the explosive batter cherishes the dream to do well in the longest format of the game.
