IOC allows boxers failing gender tests to compete with women in Paris

Paris Olympics 2024 has been marred with several controversies so far. There was another controversy when boxers who failed to pass gender tests for International Boxing Association were allowed to take part in Paris Olympics.

Moreover, fans vented out their frustration and anger when these athletes went on to compete with women boxers in the tournament.

As a result, it was a landslide victory for Algeria’s Imane Khelif. Previously, as per the rules set by the International Boxing Association (IBA), Imane Khelif failed to pass the gender test.

Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu‑ting of Chinese Taipei both were allowed to compete in women’s boxing category despite failing gender tests.

Meanwhile, IOC’s controversial decision to include both the boxers was not taken kindly by the fans. They took to social media to vent out their frustration.

Notably, the rules for Olympics and the International Boxing Association (IBA) are quite different. The IBA is banned from setting the rules and regulations for Paris Olympics after multiple scandals have been slapped against IBA.
