Under the banner of the National Physique Committee (NPC), Odisha will play host to the NPC Bodybuilding Championship for the first time this year.

The grand event will be organised jointly by NPC Odisha Bodybuilding Federation and RR-27 at the Railway Indoor Stadium in Bhubaneswar from April 9-10.

As many as 500 male and female bodybuilders across the State have been selected to take part in as many as 13 categories of the competition. The championship has a total prize purse of Rs 6,50,000.

“It will be the biggest state-level competition and the winners will qualify for the national level competition. The championship will be played in 13 categories under bodybuilding, classic physique, men’s physique and women’s physique events. For physically specially-abled bodybuilders we have a special star event,” said Barun Mishra, member of the organising committee.

“The championship will be a great exposure for all the bodybuilders of Odisha. It will provide them a very good platform to showcase their talent and shape of their future,” said Mishra.

The National Physique Committee is the largest amateur bodybuilding organisation in the United States. Amateur bodybuilders across the globe compete in competitions from local to national competitions sanctioned by NPC. It is the only amateur bodybuilding organisation recognised by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Pro League.
