Emerging spinner Ravi Bishnoi was one of the standout performers for India in the recently-concluded five-match T20I series against Australia. The young leg-spinner took as many as nine wickets from five matches.

Based on his brilliant performance against Australia, Bishnoi has been called up to India’s T20I squad for the forthcoming tour of South Africa, starting from December 10.

Now the promising spinner has earned massive praise from no other than legendary Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.

In a recent interaction, though Muralitharan compared Bishnoi with the likes of Anil Kumble and Ravichandran Ashwin, he explained the young spinner as a bit different from them.

“India have always had a good set of spinners in every generation. You see from Anil Kumble to Ravichandran Ashwin to now the young guys who have come. Bishnoi is different from any other leg spinner than any other ones. He bowls quicker and he makes the ball slide a lot and Axar also is very accurate, not a big spinner of the ball and Washi also is similar because he doesn’t turn much and is very accurate and quite quicker,” said Muralitharan during a recent interaction.

Notably, Bishnoi has so far played in 21 matches and picked up 34 wickets.

Bishnoi has claimed the No.1 spot in the ICC T20 International bowler rankings. The Indian leg-spinner dethroned Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. Bishnoi’s brilliant performances have propelled him to the top spot with a rating point of 699. He has surpassed Rashid Khan’s 692.
