Team India’s veteran speedster Mohammed Shami has been out of competitive cricket since the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023 due to an ankle injury. Shami was the best bowler in the ODI World Cup where he ended up being the highest wicket-taker of the tournament after being dropped from the squad for the initial four matches. He captured 24 wickets in just seven games in the marquee event with an impressive average of 10.71.

In a recent interview, Shami was asked about the best bowler in India. His reply is going viral over various social media platforms.

When Shami was asked in the interview, ‘Who is the best Indian bowler according to him in India?’, he replied by pointing a finger towards himself saying, “Apne se jyada kyu manna kisi ko? (Why consider anyone above myself?)”

When asked about his favourite bowler, Shami said, “I don’t consider pace if you have the pace but you pitch the ball left or right, I don’t consider that. If you’re accurate then I feel you’re better.”

“There is Dale Steyn. I liked Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, and Glenn McGrath. There are many bowlers and if you talk about Indian bowlers then Zaheer Khan and Kapil Dev are there. They were not fast but they were lethal while bowling at 135-140,” said the veteran pacer.
