A clinical Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) created history after winning the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 title with an eight-wicket victory against Delhi Capitals. The RCB girls outplayed DC and chased down the target of 114 with three balls to spare.

An all-round RCB led by solid bowling spells by Shreyanka Patil and brilliant knock by Ellyse Perry helped them capture their first-ever WPL trophy at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Now, after the maiden win, RCB fans are going gaga over spin bowling all-rounder Shreyanka Patil who showcased her prowess with a destructive four-wicket haul.

The young talent has been trending on social media for her heroics with fans already calling her the new ‘national crush’. Shreyanka who won the Purple Cap and Emerging Player Award has replaced her captain Smriti Mandhana as the ‘national crush’ of cricket lovers.

She unleashed her full potential and was in her ‘beast mode’ with the ball in her hand against Delhi Capitals. Shreyanka, who claimed the Purple Cap for most wickets by a player in the tournament, has 13 wickets in eight games at an average of 12.07, with the best bowling figures of 4/12.

She thanked all her fans for their continuous support and said, “They got a really good start but we did not let our guard down. I enjoyed each and every moment. There was something in the wicket. If there is a little turn, I feel I am a different beast.”

Similarly, Smriti Mandhana stated, “The feeling has not sunk in yet. It is hard for me to come out with a lot of expressions. Only thing I want to say is I am proud of the bunch. We have been through ups and downs but they have stuck at it, and the way we have gotten past the line, it was amazing.”
