Cricket fans celebrated India’s World Cup triumph after 28 years as India chased down the target of 275 runs posted by Sri lanka at Wankhede Stadium in 2011.

The 2011 World Cup also meant that Sachin Tendulkar was playing his last World Cup game which made everyone sit on their edge of their seats when Indian openers came into bat.

Sachin Tendulkar started his innings very cautiously as he hit two boundaries of Nuwan Kulasekara where one was a textbook straight drive and other was back foot square cut through the point.

The genius was in the mood to give his fans one last gift by scoring a century. People knew it was his day after witnessing those shots by the little master. A few deliveries later, there was stun silence at the crowd when Sachin Tendulkar was caught by Kumar Sangakkara by Lasith Malinga.

People were in disbelief after seeing Tendulkar returning to the pavilion for the last time. He scored 18 runs.

After returning from the ground, Sachin told Virat Kohli, "Ab bhi ball thoda swing ho raha hai! (Now also the ball is swinging a bit)’’

Sachin Tendulkar opened up about this when asked by a fan during an event.

He was the leading run-scorer for India with scoring 482 runs- 2 centuries and 2 fifties to his name.

India beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets to win the ICC World Cup in 2011.
