Unorthodox speedster Jasprit Bumrah has undergone successful back surgery in Christchurch.

As per sources, Bumrah’s surgery has been successful and the pacer is doing fine. He was out of action since September last year due to a back injury.

India’s bowling mainstay Bumrah had missed the Asia Cup 2022, T20 World Cup 2022 and now the pacer is missing the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 against Australia. The pacer is likely to miss the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season as well.

As per BCCI sources, Bumrah’s recovery will take 24 weeks maximum and he is likely to hit the nets by August. Then it may not be possible for him to play in the Asia Cup which is likely to be played in September. However, BCCI is somehow optimistic that Bumrah could be fully ready for the ODI World Cup 2023.

Notably, Team India is playing a four-match Test series against Australia. While India have won the first two matches in Nagpur and Delhi, the visiting side has managed to win the third Test in Indore.

Hosts India will lock horns with Australia in the fourth and final Test match of the series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad starting from March 9.
