Under skipper Rohit Sharma’s leadership, Mumbai Indians (MI) have emerged champions in the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) for five times. However, after Team India’s shocking loss in the final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, speculations are rife that Rohit might be released from the franchise for the upcoming edition.

There is a possibility that Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya might return to Mumbai Indians and the star all-rounder will be traded with Rohit to lead the franchise.

Under Rohit’s leadership, MI have won the 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 editions of the cash-rich league. However, following the exit of Hardik and some other star players, MI have failed to replicate their stellar performances as earlier.

But, the Rohit Sharma-led side managed to qualify for the playoffs in the last edition. Considering the excellent track record of Rohit Sharma for MI, it will be an extremely difficult decision for the franchise to part way with its most experienced player.

Notably, all the franchises of IPL will meet for the auction in Dubai on December 19, 2023.The 2024 edition of IPL is expected to start on March 23, 2024 to May 29, 2024.
