IPL 2023 has produced some of the most controversial moments. The most infamous incident of the ongoing edition of the cash rich league came in the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium on May 1. RCB star batter Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir had an ugly altercation after the match. Players from both the sides had to intervene and cool them down.

Fans and experts across the globe slammed both the cricketers for their controversial act. However, former England spinner Graeme Swann has a unique prospective on this ugly spat.

As per Swann, the rivalry between two cricketing giants who have grown up together is good for the league and the spat made him laugh.

“I am playing cricket throughout my life. Sometime emotions do boil over on the field. It’s good for the league if they do. You should never try and dilute the players so much that they don’t wear their hearts on their sleeves. One of the reasons why Virat Kohli is Virat Kohli is because he is so passionate about his game. He is so in your face that it intimidates a lot of players. Still, there will be some players who will think that it goes too far,” said Swann.

“Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli will always have their thing going. They are massive personalities, who grew up playing together. So, Gautam is never going to back down to Virat. That made me laugh. I thought it was brilliant,” the former England spinner added.
