Ahead of the first Test match between India and Australia in Nagpur, legendry batsman Sachin Tendulkar has extended his support for explosive batsman Suryakumar Yadav.

As per the Master Blaster, Test cricket is indeed a different ball game. However, Suryakumar Yadav with his amazing skill-set and the ability to think out of the box is perfectly equipped to play the longest format of the game.

“From playing the shortest format of the game, ODIs and now in the Test squad, Surya has made an incredible impression among fans across the globe. Whoever follows Surya, they fall in love with his explosive stroke play and out of box thinking,” said Tendulkar during an interview.

“Test cricket is a different kettle of fish. India’s Mr 360 degree looks perfectly equipped to play the longest format of the game. Someone of his calibre should be considered along with KL Rahul and Shubman Gill in Test matches as well. All of them are quite capable players. I don’t want to pass any judgement. However, all the three players are capable enough to walk into the playing XI,” he added.

Though Tendulkar did not want to be dragged into the debate on ideal playing XI, as per the legend, consistency of a player is the key to retain spot in the team.

“Shubman has been in good form in recent times. Rahul hasn’t been able to contribute. However, going through ups and downs is part of the game. They both are excellent players, but they have to keep performing on a constant basis to cement their places in the team,” said Tendulkar who is the highest run scorer in Test cricket.
