Following India’s heart breaking exit from the semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2023 against formidable Australia, skipper of Women in Blue Harmanpreet Kaur has penned a heartfelt note.

The Indian team was cruising to a victory in the semifinal match against Australia. However, the Women in Blue succumbed to the pressure and after the unfortunate run out of captain Harmanpreet, they lost the match by only five runs.

Harmanpreet thanked fans for believing in the Indian women’s cricket team and promised a strong comeback.

“This is for all our fans across the globe who have supported us throughout this World Cup. I thank you for believing in our journey. I know as a cricket fan it’s sad to see your team loose. All I can say is that we will come back strongly and put a great show out there,” tweeted Harmanpreet.

Meanwhile, former captain Diana Edulji said skipper Harmanpreet was casual while running the second run before the bat got stuck in the ground and led to a game-changing run out. Edulji was also of the opinion that the poor standard of fitness was responsible for India’s ordinary fielding and running between the wickets.

“India were poor in their fielding and catching while Australia were brilliant, making the difference in the end,” said Edulji.

“I found the U-19 team much fitter than the seniors. BCCI must have a proper assessment of players’ fitness,” she added.
