With an unorthodox action, Jasprit Bumrah has always a chance of picking injuries. Former Australia pacer Glenn McGrath has advocated the need to rest premier pacer Bumrah in intervals to avoid injuries.

As per the former Australia great, if the Indian pacer continues to play cricket for a long time, he will get injured.

Bumrah was out of cricket for almost a year after injuring his back. The pacer underwent surgery and didn’t play in the IPL 2023 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Team India’s premier pacer returned with the three-match T20I series in Ireland and left a lasting impression in the ICC ODI World Cup.

McGrath feels that Bumrah needs time off from cricket due to his bowling action and huge work load.

“Bumrah gives everything while bowling for the country and his franchise in IPL. His last two strides impact his body,” McGrath said during an interaction at the MRF Pace Foundation.

“Bumrah needs an off season because he puts so much into every delivery. With hard effort, he needs a break. If he keeps playing matches, he will get injured due to the amount of pressure his bowling action has on his body,” he added.
