Australia star shares heartfelt message for Ravichandran Ashwin

Team India veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin recently achieved a great feat by claiming 500 Test wickets. Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon congratulated Ashwin for his feat.

While wishing the 37-year-old, Lyon described Ashwin’s journey as an incredible one. The Australian great also said that he has immense respect for the Indian spinner.

Ashwin became only the second Indian and ninth overall to reach the 500-wicket landmark on the second day of the ongoing third Test against England in Rajkot. The veteran off-spinner dismissed opener Zak Crawley for 15 to reach the milestone.

“Hey Ash, just want to say massive congratulations on taking 500 Test wickets. It has been an incredible journey to watch. I have got nothing but respect for the way you have gone about it and your skill level,” wrote Lyon on social media account X (earlier known as Twitter).

“It has been amazing to compete against you but also learn off you. So mate, congratulations and plenty more to come,” he added.

Notably, Lyon was the eighth bowler to claim 500 wickets in Test cricket. Ashwin had congratulated the Aussie spinner during the time he achieved the feat.

Earlier, Lyon had admitted that he has learnt many tricks of the trade from Ashwin.
