After a long wait, emerging batsman Sarfaraz Khan made his debut in the Indian team memorable by smashing a brisky 62 off 66 balls in the third Test against England in Rajkot. However, when he was looking all set for a big knock, his innings came to an end due to a horrible mix up with star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the other end.

Sarfaraz was run out by England pacer Mark Wood at the non-striker’s end. Jadeja played the ball towards mid-on and took a couple of steps before denying Sarfaraz the single. By this time, Sarfaraz was already way out of his crease and a direct hit from Wood caught him well short at non-striker’s end.

In his response to the unfortunate run out of Sarfaraz, former England great David Lloyd felt that it was Jadeja’s mistake that led to the miscommunication.

“Ravindra Jadeja sold him down the river. The young lad is going for the single. Jadeja sets off, then sends him back. Rohit Sharma doesn’t like it, but it’s brilliant from Wood,” said Lloyd during a recent interaction.

Later reflecting on the incident, Sarfaraz said, “There was a little miscommunication. This is part of the game. Sometimes there is a run-out, sometimes there is a run, and sometimes there is not. So all this goes on. Jadeja said that there was a little miscommunication. And I said that it is okay. It happens. There is nothing big in it.”
