Following his snub from the Indian cricket team for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 to be played in India, star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has joined Kent for his maiden spell in county cricket.

“Kent Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of India international leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the Club’s remaining LV= Insurance County Championship matches, subject to regulatory approval,” the club announced.

Chahal has captured 87 wickets in as many as 33 first-class appearances so far. He has the best figures of 6/44 while playing for Haryana against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy.

As per the announcement by Kent, Chahal will be available for selection in Kent’s remaining two home Championship matches against Nottinghamshire & Lancashire and Kent’s away fixture against Somerset.

“This is an exciting challenge for me, playing in English county cricket, and one I’m very much looking forward to,” said Chahal.

Despite being in good form, Chahal was not a part of the Indian squad which is currently in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup. The decision by the BCCI selectors surprised several experts and fans.
