Team India’s young wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel impressed one and all with his batting and wicketkeeping skills during his debut in the third Test of the five-match Test series against England.

The aggressive cricketer has opened up about meeting his idol Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the first time. In a video shared by the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI), Jurel shared his experience of meeting the former India captain.

“Watching him I just stood up and could not believe that it was MS Dhoni standing in front of me. I was just hoping it wasn’t a dream and I was pinching myself. It was 2021 when I was playing my first IPL. I was at a loss for words and somehow asked him for a picture and he agreed. He had advised me to just watch the ball and play,” said Jurel.

“My one wish is to meet MS Dhoni after the match. I saw him during the IPL, but now I want to see him in the Indian jersey. I always learn something special from Mahi bhai. Really hope I get to meet him in Ranchi,” he added.

Notably, former wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik handed Jurel his debut cap. He impressed all and sundry with his wicketkeeping skills, especially with the run out of Ben Duckett. He also played an impressive knock of 46 in the first innings.
