India cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wife, Rivaba has got BJP ticket for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly polls. Rivaba had joined the BJP in 2019.
The BJP on Thursday announced the list of its candidates for the Gujarat polls scheduled to be held in two phases- December 1 and 5. The results will be announced on December 8.
After joining the BJP, Rivaba Jadeja had reportedly sought a ticket from Jamnagar (North) which is presently held by the party's Dharmendrasinh Jadeja. So, she will be contesting from the Jamnagar North constituency.
As per the BJP's first list of 160 candidates for the 182-member Gujarat Assembly Polls, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will contest the elections from Ghatlodiya constituency while Gujarat Home minister Harsh Sanghavi will contest elections from Majura constituency.
Chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister, BJP national president JP Nadda, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa among others.
Meanwhile, the last date for nominations for the first phase Assembly poll is November 14 while November 17 is for the second phase. Counting of votes will be held on December 8.
