Jamshedpur (Jharkhand): Tata Steel Managing Director H M Nerurkar on Thursday described the prevailing political situation in Jharkhand as "unfortunate".

"The state has been witnessing unstable government for the last two-three years. It is not good for the growth of the state as the policies of the government were not being repeated," he said after addressing the members of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here.

"The state has been unable to attract investment in the prevailing situation thus affecting the industrial sector badly," Nerurkar said.

Tata Steel, which has Rs 1300-crore infrastructure development plan in and around Jamshedpur, has been waiting for Jharkhand governments approval to start work.

The projects include setting up of eastern and western corridor and construction of fly-over, sources said.

Earlier, addressing the members of the chamber, Tata Steel MD said the steel city of Jamshedpur has established reputation on the economic, social and business front in the country.

Nerurkar said that the green and clean city of Jamshedpur needed immediate infrastructure development to ease traffic congestion.
