As morning shows the day, President Droupadi Murmu displayed characteristics of her greatness from childhood itself, said Murmu’s friend Anshumala Ajita.

OTV caught up with Ajita ahead of President Murmu’s two-day Odisha visit starting from Friday. Ajita has been invited to the President’s events in Bhubaneswar on Feb 10 (Friday).

“She (Murmu) never complained of anything and always performed the tasks she was given with immaculate accuracy. She was disciplined,” Ajita said.

think the reason behind her discipline came from the NCC. She was a cadet in school and was entrusted with some major responsibilities in the NCC from maintaining register to collecting cloths. She performed all her duties very well,” Ajita said.

Sharing an interesting anecdote, she said, “Murmu had very good handwriting. She was so famous for it that teachers used to wait for her to fill up the register.”

“I am happy that despite being at the highest echelon of the Indian democracy, she did not forget her friends. This shows her simplicity and down-to-earth nature. Though I would like to meet her in person and talk to her, but I do not think her protocol and security detail would allow me. But whatever time I will get to talk with her, I will cherish it forever,” Ajita added.

The President will visit Lingaraj Temple and the National Rice Research Institute, take part in Gyanaprava Mission’s programme at Utkal Mandap and the convocation programme of Rama Devi Women's University.

This is her second visit to Odisha after assuming the highest Constitutional position in India.
