3 Plus II students held for thrashing junior over ‘love affair’ in Bhubaneswar college

Three Plus II students of a premier college in Bhubaneswar on Thursday were arrested after a purported video of them thrashing a junior went viral. All of them are Plus II students and one of them is a minor, police said.

The trio allegedly thrashed the first year student over ‘love affair’. The minor has been sent to a rehabilitation centre while the two others will be forwarded to court, reports said.

According to sources, the victim student came to the college with a girl. However, the trio opposed the student from being friends with the girl and had warned him to stay away from her.

However, the first year student paid no heed to their warnings and continued to being friends with the girl. This infuriated his seniors so much so that they thrashed him black and blue after finding him alone inside the college campus.

In the viral video, we can see the students thrashing the student while he tries to save himself. All the students are in their uniforms. Although, a few students try to pacify them, the seniors continue to thrash him.

A fellow student recorded the video and shared it on social media platforms that soon went viral. Soon after the video went viral, the Badagada police registered a case and launched a probe.

When contacted, the college authorities said they are contemplating necessary action against the erring students.
