As per reports, during a train journey along with one of his relatives on July 27, the minor boy had lost his way. Local people found him roaming at Sambalpur police station aimlessly. Suspecting him to be a thief, they handed him over to the police.

Sambalpur Sadar police allegedly detained him at the police station till August 2 and beat him up mercilessly.

The minor boy’s father alleged that police called him and demanded Rs 50,000 from him with the allegation that the little boy has stolen four mobile phones.

Following the development, the minor boy’s father filed a complaint with Sambalpur SP in which all the incidents were mentioned.

Meanwhile, Childline rescued the minor boy and brought it to Chile Welfare Committee (CWC).

“Our son was travelling with his uncle to Sambalpur in train. Somehow, he lost his way at the station and was taken into police custody. Police demanded Rs 50,000 from me to release the child. But, we are poor people and couldn’t manage the amount. After being helpless we lodged a complaint with Sambalpur SP and subsequently the little boy was rescued.
