Around 663 posts have been approved for the three India Reserve (IR) Battalions, said Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Wednesday.

As per the official release, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved 663 posts (security boys) including 221 posts for each battalion. The newly approved posts include- Commandant (1), Havildar Major (18), Havildar (23), Constable (154), Inspector (1), Sub-Inspector (2), Havildar (WT) 4, Constable (WT) 13 among others.

Apart from this, 44 assistant posts have been created for each India Reserve Battalion. All such posts will be filled up through outsourcing. The total outsourced posts stand at 132.

In April this year, the Odisha government has 196 posts for the upcoming new 28 permanent police outposts in the State. Of the total posts, 28 are sub-inspector rank officers and 168 are constable posts.

All the above mentioned personnel will be deployed at the 28 newly set police outposts for effective management of law and order and crime control. Sources said, each police outpost will be manned by one sub-inspector and six constables.
