Puri: In yet another instance of vigilante justice, four members of a family were on Wednesday paraded by the villagers for allegedly killing their daughter-in-law here in Bantuli village under Gop police limits.

While the deceased has been identified as Sushanti Pradhan, the accused have been identified as the father-in-law Hata Pradhan, mother-in-law Manorama Pradhan, husband Bhagwan Pradhan and brother-in-law Tutu Pradhan.

According to reports, the villagers caught hold of the four accused today when Sushanti’s body was found hanging from the fan’s ceiling. It is suspected that the in-laws of the deceased had killed her for dowry as they had once been jailed earlier in 2002 for allegedly setting Charu Pradhan, Bhagwan’s first wife on fire for dowry.

Following the death of the Sushanti, the irate villagers today tied in-laws together and made them walk on their knees.

There was no respite for the family members even after police reached the spot and tried to bring the situation under control. However, Sushanti’s another brother-in-law, the accomplice in the crime is still at large.

Meanwhile, Sushanti’s father Dushasan Kandi has accused the in-laws to have murdered his daughter who had tied the nuptial knot with Bhagwan in 2010.

However, the in-laws of Sushanti have refuted the charges against them.
