UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2024: Important instructions and exam details

The Civil Services Prelims exam will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on June 16, 2024. 

Candidates are advised to bring their Admit Card, a valid government-issued ID (Aadhaar/PAN).

The exam will be conducted in two shifts:

  • The first shift begins at 9:30 am for GS paper 1.

  • The second shift starts at 2:30 pm for GS paper 2 (CSAT).

Candidates should note that the exam includes negative marking. It is advised to carefully read the questions and answers before marking the responses on the OMR sheet.

Instructions for aspirants

  • Arrival Time: Candidates should arrive at the exam venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.

  • Admit Card: Bring only the items listed on the admit card and avoid carrying unnecessary valuables.

  • Writing Instruments: Use only a black ballpoint pen on the answer sheet.

  • Permitted Items: Candidates are allowed to bring their admit card, 2 colored photographs, government ID proofs, stationery items, and a water bottle.

  • Prohibited Items: Do not wear smart watches or bring any electronic devices such as mobile phones.

  • OMR Sheet: It's crucial to fill in all details accurately on the OMR sheet to prevent disqualification.

  • Admit Card Verification: Candidates should carefully review their admit cards to ensure all information is correct and complete.
