Bangalore: Software major Infosys Technologies announced it would participate in the Earth Hour campaign to spread awareness on climate change and inculcate responsible behavior amongst its employees.

Infosys has formulated a Clean-n-Green Bengaluru Drive as part of the Earth Hour campaign.

The Green Connect team at Infosys is planning a clean-up drive on MG Road and Brigade Road, to emphasise the need for community participation in ensuring a Clean and Green City.

In addition to the above, Infosys is conducting a number of in-house activities to spread awareness on sustainable practices, it said in a release here on Saturday.

The activities will include a centrally co-ordinated one hour power switch off across all DCs, with recordings of the power savings. The software major is also conducting contests and have invited written and video entries from employees during the switch off period under the theme of `My 60 Minutes for Earth`.

In keeping with the `sustainable` theme, switch-off carols and a candle-light march will be organised on office floors to promote awareness on Earth Hour.

Registration kiosks will be set-up and street-plays will be conducted at the food courts. Earth Hour carols will be performed by DC bands on office floors and open spaces within the campus.

An initiative titled `Captain of Planet E` will also take place, which will encourage people to organize community cricket match viewing sessions in their localities.

In an effort to create awareness, it has already conducted some activities over the past few months with Infosys Bangalore like holding a cyclothon to promote clean and healthy commute to work and organising a musical performance by solar powered music band, Solar Punch, to promote clean entertainment, it said.
