Doctors at Malkangiri District Headquaters Hospital gave a new lease of life to a patient by removing a large stone weighing around 1200 gram from his urinary bladder.

The patient, Dasharath Khila from Chitrakonda area in the district was feeling excruciating pain in his urinary bladder on a regular basis. Though he consulted many doctors and took different medicines to get rid of the pain, nothing worked.

Recently, he consulted doctor Sapan kumar Dinda at Malkangiri District Headquaters Hospital. Following proper diagnosis and testing, it was discovered that Dasharath has developed a big stone in his urinary bladder.

The patient was advised for an immediate operation and he readily agreed. Subsequently, Dinda along with anesthesia specialist Nihar Ranjan Tripathy carried out a rare and complicated surgery and removed the stone successfully in a first-of-its-kind instance at the hospital.

“The biggest complication in such cases is that the bladder can’t store urine or function normally. It was a pretty challenging procedure. However, we successfully removed the big stone from the patient’s urinary bladder. The condition of the patient is stable now,” said Dinda after carrying out the operation.
