Bhopal: Noted lyricist Gulzar released the coffee-table book `Ek Prarthna` compiled by NGO Arushi, featuring children associated with the organisation. The book was released by Gulzar here on Saturday in the presence of Arushi children. He has penned the captions of these photos, which were captured by noted photographer Zeeshan Akbar Latif.

On the occasion, the writer-filmmaker said it was a humble attempt to bring smile to the faces of the children. "Instead of just sympathising with these children, it would be better if we bring smiles on their faces," he added.

Arushi is an NGO working for the special children having problem is hearing and speech.

Gulzar recalled his association with Arushi when he had made the Sanjeev Kumar-Jaya Bhaduri starrer `Koshish` in which both the actors played dumb and deaf characters. "At that time I and other artists also learnt the art of sign language to fully understand the subject on which we were making the film," he said. He also recited a few poems on the occasion.

Gulzar also released on the occasion a children magazine `Chakmak`, published by another NGO Eklavya.
