When she was picked by Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the titular role of Gangubai Kathiawadi, Aaloo knew that this was the role that could help her get closer to her dreams.

With no other big name in the lead and only a cameo by Ajay Devgn , all the eyes were on the Gully Boy actress, and naturally, Alia Bhatt was happy that SLB had chosen her.

As usual, she prepared for the role with full dedication but when it came to picturising the song Dholida which was a crucial moment in the movie and a way for Gangubai to establish her supremacy, Alia Bhatt was lost. She did not know how to do it powerfully enough so that the emotions reached the audience. For the first time, Alia Bhatt wanted to give up.

It was an entirely new situation for her. Revealing the difficulties that she faced during the shooting of this song, Alia said that it was a very different song for her, the weather was very cold and her back had caught up and her feet were bruised.

She just wanted to give up and at that moment felt like she cannot do it. That is when she called Ranveer Singh who as a dear friend dropped on the set of Gangubai Kathiawadi. With his high energy and encouragement, Alia’s enthusiasm also soared and she decided to give the difficult moves a try once again. Ranveer Singh even danced with her a few steps and brought her out of the gloom.

She finally got things right and was overwhelmed at the end of it by the strong support from Ranveer and the team of Gangubai Kathiawadi.
