Mrunal Thakur who captivated the hearts of millions of youngsters with her brilliant performance in Sita Raman celebrates her 31st birthday today.

Born on August 1, Mrunal is sort of an inspiration for television actresses who want to switch over to movies. Similar to Sushant Singh Rajput who had a successful stint in the mainstream cinema after doing a hit serial like Pavitra Rishta,

Mrunal too has proved her mettle as an actress with good performances in A-listed movies like Super 30 with Hrithik Roshan and Batla House.

Mrunal Thakur wanted to prove a point and was successful

Her career in acting started when she was studying in college. Her first break was for the Star Plus serial Mujhse Kuchh Kehti...Yeh Khamoshiyaan. But her big television break was Kumkum Bhagya which aired on Zee TV and continues to enjoy a good run even today.

She started getting recognition with this serial. After working in a couple of reality shows, the actress ventured into movies and her first movie was a Marathi film, Vitti Dandu.

After working in another Marathi movie Suraiya, she got her first Bollywood project Love Sonia. Though her work in this film was appreciated it was a commercial failure. At that time there was a lot of talk about how it is impossible for television actors to switch over to movies.

It has been a fact that many big actors on television like Hina Khan, Gauhar Khan, Jay Bhanushali, or Gurmeet Chaudhary who have been immensely successful on the small screen have failed to replicate the same success in movies.

But, Mrunal continued to keep up her motivation and now after getting some good projects and hits, she is considered a successful Bollywood actress.

From outright rejection to getting movie without an audition

During one of her interviews, the Jersey actress said that people used to demotivate her saying that a television actress cannot get a lead role in Bollywood movies. Mrunal Thakur even said that at that time it used to take her 7 to 8 months to get a good film.

The actress said that she had to request the directors or the production houses to at least take her audition but they were not ready to give her even one chance. It was the scenario when she started taking her struggle in the movies.

However, after a couple of movies, she gained the faith of the directors and they just offered her work without even taking her audition.
