Indian playback singer Alka Yagnik has added one more feather to her cap after leaving behind several popular global fames like BTS, Blackpink, and Taylor Swift. She has become the most streamed artist on YouTube. Though sounds unbelievable, it’s true. 

According to the Guinness World Records, Alka has grabbed the first spot in the list of YouTube’s 2022 global ranking by beating Bad Bunny (Puerto Rico), who received 14.7 billion streams, and is in the second spot.

With an average of 42 million YouTube streams daily, Alka raked in 15.3 billion streams in total. According to Guinness World Records, the Indian playback singer has been the most streamed musician on the video streaming site for the past three years. In 2020, she got 16.6 billion streams; in 2021, she got 17.7 billion. 

Though K-Pop groups BTS and Blackpink made it to the list with 7.95 billion and 7.03 billion streams respectively, they failed to beat the Indian singer.

Classically trained Alka made her debut as a child singer in 1980’s Payal Ki Jhankaar. She also lent her voice to the female version of the popular song ‘Mere Angne Mein .’ She won her first Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for Tezaab’s ‘Ek Do Teen’. Apart from Hindi, she has sung in several regional languages including Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, etc. The 1990s belonged to Alka and she has sung thousands of songs. 

From Dekha Hai Peheli Baar and Tip Tip Barsa Pani to Ladki Badi Anjani Hai and Suraj Hua Maddham, Alka has a long list of songs with which she still rules the hearts of Indian music lovers and enchants everyone with her magical voice.
