The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Wednesday issued an important notice for the research scholars, M.Phil and Ph.D students.

In its notice, the UGC has clearly announced for further extension of six months for the research scholars to submit thesis.

“Keeping in view the larger interest of the research scholars, a further extension of six months beyond 31.12,2021 i.e., till June 30,2022, for submission of thesis by M.Phi1./Ph.D. students may be granted by the Universities,” the latest UGC letter read.

It is also notified that the extension for submission of M.Phil./Ph.D. thesis till June, 2022 shall be applicable to all such students whose due date of submission of M.Phil./ Ph.D. thesis is on or before 30.6.2022.

“Extension of six months, as mentioned above, may also be granted for submitting evidence of publication and presentation in two conferences. However, tenure of fellowship will remain upto five years only,” the notice added.

On November 30, the UGC in another notice had asked Universities to make provision for special examination for the cadets of National Cadet Corps (NCC). Every year, the cadets are involved in preparation/training camps for the Republic Day Camp during the months of November and December.

It has been brought to the notice of UGC that the NCC cadets/volunteers are facing problems for selfless services they render, by virtue of which they miss their semester classes. “Looking into this, special examination should be conducted on separate dates for NCC cadets and not as candidates appearing for re-test,” the UGC letter read.
