The Board of Examination (BSE), Odisha on Tuesday announced some changes in the schedule for the conduct of the Summative Assesment 1 Exam of Class 10 students in the State.

The Class 10 Summative Assesment 1 Exam, which was earlier scheduled to begin from December 27, 2021, has now been postponed.

As per the revised timetable, the Summative Exam for Class 10 students will now be held from January 5, 2022. BSE officials said that the Summative Assesment Exam 1 will be held for four days on January 5, 6, 7 and January 8, 2022.

Citing the reasons behind rescheduling of Exam dates, BSE deputy Vice-President Nihar Ranjan Mohanty said, "We have decided to reorganize the examination in view of the upcoming Christmas holidays in the month of December.”

According to Mohanty, nearly 5.70 lakh students including those pursuing correspondence courses have filled up forms for appearing the Class 10 Summative Assesment 1 examination this year. The Board is now preparing a database of the students for necessary action for the conduct of the upcoming examination.

A detailed provision will be made for the smooth conduct of the Summative 1 examination by fixing exam centres and other modalities.

It is pertinent to mention here that the BSE had come up with the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system for evaluation of the performance of students in Class 9 and 10 from the current academic session.

The new system was introduced to tide over the problems by the Board for evaluation of results after the annual matriculation examination was cancelled in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
