Nayab Sarpanch accused of raping minor in Gajapati, plaint lodged

Nayab Sarpanch of Parisal Gram Panchayat under Ramagiri police station in Gajapati has been accused of raping a 14-year-old minor girl inside the Panchayat office.

The accused has been identified as Jaychandra Anand.

The family members of the victim have lodged a complaint against Anand at Ramagiri police station. After receiving the complaint, Ramagiri police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. Accused Anand is on the run.

As per the complaint lodged by the family members, the minor girl had gone near the Panchayat office for some work. Finding her alone, Anand called the girl inside the office and raped her.

“We have registered a case as per the complaint of the family members and started an investigation into the incident. The accused is on the run. Hopefully, he will be arrested and the truth will be revealed soon,” said R Udaygiri SDPO, Dilip Kumar Nayak.
