Tension prevails at Danduasaipada area in Brahmagiri area in Puri district after a series of bombs were hurled at several houses following a clash post-Holi celebrations on Saturday. There are also reports of firing in the area.

The incident occurred soon after two youths, who were on their way to buy chicken, were allegedly attacked by their rival groups. It subsequently triggered a backlash resulting in unrest in the area last night.

Following the clash, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident as two persons have reportedly been injured. Apart from the old, children and ailing, most of the people have deserted the village fearing arrest by police.

One platoon of police force has been deployed to maintain law and order in the area. Earlier on Sunday, police had carried out a march and recovered four live crude bombs from the village.

It is pertinent to mention here that at least six persons were injured in a similar bombing and stone pelting incident which was reported on February 9 during the recently concluded Panchayat polls. Later, six persons were arrested in connection with the incident the next day and all of them were released on conditional bail on February 21.

On February 24, a series of bombs were hurled in the area and 21 persons were arrested by police.
