Puducherry: CPI today said it would stage a demonstration here and in Karaikal on January 24 to condemn the `inadequate` relief of rs 125 crore announced by Centre for cyclone-Thane affected areas of the Union Territory.

CPI`s Puducherry State unit Secretary, R.Viswanathan, said in a release here today that the territorial administration had assessed the damage at Rs 2500 crore and submitted a detailed report to the Centre. "The insufficient relief is indicative of the utter neglect and lack of concern on the part of the Centre towards Puducherry," he said.
