AIADMK councillor kidnaps 3 councillors

Salem: An AIADMK councilor has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping three other councillors belonging to his party, including two women, after the oath-taking ceremony on Tuesday, police said.

Madesh, the AIADMK councilor of Tharamangalam in the district, kidnapped women councilors Chitra and Shanthi and fellow councilor Manickam in a car on Tuesday, police said. He allegedly kidnapped them to ensure their support in the election for the post of Panchayat vice-president, they said.

Madesh was eventually arrested on Tuesday and a case under section 363 of the IPC (kidnapping) was registered against him.
