"The girl came to Tehsil office first time on April 18 for registering sale deed of her land in the name of her close relative," Naib Tehsildar Ram Mehar, in whose room she took drastic step, claimed. No transaction of money took place before him and the entire consideration amount was already paid in presence of witnesses, the tehsildar said.
After registration of sale deed, the girl, who was seller of the land, approached the joint sub registrar on April 20 claiming that though document was registered but the entire amount was not paid to her, he said. She asked for the remaining amount to be paid and threatened suicide, he said.
Office bearers tried to pacify her saying that once a sale deed is registered, the joint sub registrar or the sub registrar do not have power to cancel it, he said. She was told that now it was a matter of civil court and she should file a suit, said Mehar. Today she visited the office again and consumed the poison.
