Bhubaneswar: The Chhattisgarh government has formed a five-member Cabinet sub committee to negotiate on the safe release of abducted Sukma collector A P Menon who was taken hostage by the extremist group on Saturday.

Led by Chief Minister Raman Singh, the committee which also involves home minister and tribal welfare minister, discussed last night on several initiatives to make free the Collector. The Chief Minister has also decided to call for an all-party meeting to discuss over the issue.

On Sunday the Maoists in an audio tape mentioned about their five demands to release Menon which include halting Operation Greenhunt and releasing eight Maoists by April 25. The police have also started operation in search of the Collector, but yet to get a clue. People and students in large number on Sunday took out a rally in the area demanding the release of the 32-year old officer.
