Srinagar: Army chief General V K Singh on Monday reviewed the operational preparedness of the armed forces in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of changing environment and security scenario in the state.

Gen Singh, who arrived on a two-day visit, was received by Northern Command chief Lt General K T Parnaik and General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps Lt Gen S A Hasnain. He was accompanied by his wife Bharti Singh, the president of Army`s Central Family Welfare organisation.

"The Army Chief reviewed operational preparedness in the valley in view of the changing environment and security scenario," a defence spokesman said.

He said Gen Singh also visited the troops deployed in high altitude areas and on the Line of Control in the valley.

Bharti Singh visited Army Base Hospital at Srinagar and interacted with the patients.
