Comedy films click due to good scripts: Riteish
"In comedy, actors are just 20 percent, 80 percent is the script..if a good punch (funny) when and how finesse is all done by actor. But the writer is actually the backbone of comedy, if written well then it is going to be comedy, if not written well then you are doing buffoonery," Riteish told PTI.
"When in a particular scene if one says he or she is housed down or I fell off my chair etc that is all because of the writer and director… only a part of the credit goes to actor," he said.
Riteish started out his career in Bollywood with romantic film, `Tujhe Meri Kasam`, which did not do well at the box office. His next release `Out Of Control` was again a disappointment, but he was back with a bang in `Masti` and then gave many box office hits including the slap stick `Kya Kool Hai Hum`.
The 32-year-old would be seen next in Sajid Khan`s `Housefull 2` which has an ensemble star cast of Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Shreyas Talpade, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez, Zarine Khan, Shazahn Padamsee, Mithun Chakraborty, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Boman Irani.
Ask him how much of credit should be given to actors in `Housefull 2`, Riteish says, "Again I feel it is only the writer and director who have given their best. Films like `Heyy Babyy`, `Housefull`, `Housefull 2` all have come out well due to hard work of Sajid Nadiadwala (producer), Sajid Khan (director-writer), Sajid Farhad (writer)." The film releases on April 5.
