Sambalpur Businessman Attacked For Not Paying Extortion Money

Sambalpur: A businessman sustained multiple injuries after being allegedly thrashed by miscreants for not paying extortion money. The injured businessman, Debasish Pati is now undergoing treatment in Burla hospital.

As per reports, four miscreants stopped Pati while he was on his way to open his shop located inside a market complex at Cheruapada on July 17, and demanded money.

“I was going to open my shop when the two miscreants attacked me with steel rods. They had demanded extortion in the past. When I refused to pay, they assaulted me. Somehow, I managed to escape the spot,” said Pati.

He further said that the entire incident has been captured in the CCTV cameras installed at the market complex.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim, police have arrested the prime accused Sagar Karmakar in connection with the incident while the others involved in the attack are still absconding.
