Citing that majority of COVID-19 cases contributing to the recent increase are from quarantine centres and containment zones, the Special Relief Commissioner of Odisha, Pradeep Jena today informed that there are no signs of community transmission in rural and urban areas of the state.
Strict quarantine measures by the State government have prevented transmission of coronavirus, and if we can further bolster it we can stave of infection in the State, he said. Earlier yesterday, collector of Ganjam district, which has so far reported the most number of cases, had said that there and no signs and chances of community transmission in the district.
The Odisha government on Wednesday informed that 27 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease, taking the total recoveries in the State to 143.
Today, Odisha recorded a whopping 101 COVID19 cases, taking the total tally in the State to 538. While Ganjam reported 52 cases, 33 cases were detected in Balasore, 7 each in Jajpur and Sundergarh and two cases in Keonjhar.
