The pachyderms are believed to have come from Athagarh forest division.
The Nandankanan Zoological Park on Friday observed World Elephant Day. A programme was organised to spread awareness about preservation and protection of the jumbos in the state.To mark the day, the zoo authorities fed sugarcane, banana, watermelon and apple among other fruits. Mahuts of elephants were felicitated in the presence of Deputy Director Sanjit Kumar of the zoo.
Carcasses of two jumbos, including a baby elephant were found near Guhalia village in Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary under Nilgiri forest range of Balasore district on Sunday.
The joyride train services at Nandankanan Zoological Park which was halted resumed on Tuesday (November 16). The services were halted after it caught fire. The train will do total of 6 trips in a day ferrying around 72 persons in each trip.
After a 7-year long hiatus, the toy train ride at Nandankanan Zoological Park is set to roll out again from Friday (October 8). All possible arrangements have been made by the concerned administration for resuming the train services.
