As per a report, Rundu, a habitual offender was on the radar of police for his involvement in several criminal cases in the region.

An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Monday. Police said that the encounter has started at Nowpora-Kherpora, Trubji area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. According to sources, the gunfight started after a joint team of security forces got an input about the presence of terrorists in that area.

Inspector General Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar termed this operation as very important as it was situated very close to the National Highway and threat was imminent.

As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where terrorists were hiding they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter.
