Baripada: Two persons, including a railway gangman, were killed and five others seriously injured when an engine hit their maintenance trolley on the tracks in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday, police said.
 
The mishap occurred near Aanlajudi in the Jamshedpur- Badampaar railway route when seven maintanance staff were conducting routine supervision of the track in a trolley, said sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Rairangpur, Santosh Das.
 
The trolley was hit by a rail engine coming from the opposite direction, he said adding two persons identified as Budhuram Mahali, a gangman and S M Salim, a contractor died on the spot.
 
The five seriously injured were being treated at the government hospital at Rairangpuer, while inquiry into the mishap was on.
