Bhubaneswar: The distance between Bhubaneswar to Raipur  can now be covered in just 1.5 hours, thanks to the new service launched by the low-cost airlines Air Odisha.

The flight service which is scheduled to start on Wednesday has already received the nod of Directorate General of Civil Aviation, informed a senior official.

The flight will depart from Bhubaneswar at 6:10 AM and arrive at Raipur around 7:40 AM. On the same day, the flight will depart from Raipur at 12:15 PM and reach Bhubaneswar at 1:40 PM. It will have two pilots and one cabin crew member.

However, passengers will have to shed Rs 4, 500 per head as the 20-seater aircraft is not under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) yet which states that flights flying around 500 kms, must charge a fare of Rs 2,500 per hour of flying.

Bhubaneswar airport authorities said that the service will help both the cities to grow and increase the importance of the Airport.

Earlier this year, Air Odisha had launched its maiden services under the regional connectivity scheme with Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurating the first flight to Mundra from Ahmedabad.

The Bhubaneswar-based carrier, mandated to fly on 50 regional routes, had received its scheduled commuter operator (SCO) permit from the aviation regulator DGCA in February this year.
